Purtelas is an multi award winning independent theatre company based in Istanbul.

It was founded by theatre director Serdar Bilis in 2013. It produces contemporary international theatre rooted in the community engaging with urgent issues. Since it’s launch Purtelas has produced high quality theatre productions, new writing festivals as well as workshops and mentoring sessions for up and coming artists.

Purtelas is committed to creating spaces for artists to venture into new forms and ideas. It trains and supports emerging theatre directors creating opportunities for them. It is also committed to training a new generation of theatre makers and continues to organise workshops across the country.

Purtelas is an Associate Company for Zorlu PSM and Alan Kadıköy and collaborates with Kadir Has University.
